Todd Hayen is a trumpeter and music educator. He holds a bachelor of music in trumpet performance from Cornish College of the Arts and a master of music in music education from The Boston Conservatory. He currently teaches general music and chorus at South Lawrence East Elementary in Lawrence, MA. Todd also teaches trumpet and piano through The Boston Conservatory Autism Program.
Todd is heavily influenced by the work of Edwin E. Gordon and his Music Learning Theory. He holds Elementary General Music Level 1 Certification and Instrumental Professional Development Level 1 in Music Learning Theory from the Gordon Institute for Music Learning. For his master's thesis, Todd studied the use of Gordon's Music Learning Theory with students on the autism spectrum. He presented his findings at the Fourth International Conference on Music Learning Theory in 2013. Todd currently plays trumpet with the New England Philharmonic and subs with other orchestras in the Boston area. Todd has designed and maintained this website from scratch since its launch in 2004.
